Stalled out

Remember this design concept I had for a quilt for Ted?

WIP - a modified string quilt

Well, it came together surprisingly just how I pictured it my head. I love when that happens, don't you?

But now it sits in our basement (has for more than a month actually) while I ponder how to quilt it. It's the largest quilt I've ever pieced together (6 feet by 7 feet) and I worry my little basic Janome may not be up for the task. I'm even considering hand quilting it, which means Ted won't get this quilt until next year if he's lucky.

I'll be posting a tutorial for this quilt, probably before I get the quilt finished at the rate I'm going. Stay tuned.

I know this sounds crazy, but could you send it out to someone with a longarm quilter? My mom sends all of her big quilts to a lady, I think it runs about $100 to do it.

I have no idea what any part of this blog post means, but let me just say, that's a damn good looking quilt.

I love it! Oh how I love gray. Not sure what that says about my personality, but I do love the gray. It's lovely.

Ted is lucky either way....he'll still get his quilt and it's lovely...(will he mind if I call it lovely?). Excellent colours and superbly manly.

This one is looking awesome! I've seen it in person in a couple of stages but never pictured it this cool looking Cara.

Oh my gosh it's beautiful! I shouldn't be one to talk, since I've never quilted anything that big either, but according to all of the advice I have been given there isn't any reason you shouldn't be able to quilt something that big on your home machine. A lot of quilters I know do it. I'm about to try it myself as soon as I get my fiance's quilt laid out.
