Urban Lattice Quilt-along
Remember the manly quilt? Well, we couldn't call it that forever so I gave the pattern a new proper name: Urban Lattice. And I've been playing around with different color combinations. Isn't it lovely in yellow? I see so many possibilities for this pattern.
Sooooo, I've decided to not only offer a free tutorial on this quilt but also host a quilt-along. Over the years, many of you have written me about how you want to quilt or that you started sewing after reading my blog. I can't tell you how much joy it gives me knowing that I'm inspiring others to do something I find so much pleasure doing.
If you've been on the fence about quilting, this is your chance to give it a try.
The pattern is easy and you can work at your own pace -- it will be a really laid back quilt-along. You don't need to sign up (although I'd love to know if you plan on participating!) and you can start and stop as you have time. I'm certain many of you will be able to finish your quilts faster than I will be able to finish mine!
I know we all have different skill levels and machine capabilities so I will be showing you how to make three sizes: a baby quilt, a small lap quilt, and a large lap quilt.
I'll be posting a list of material requirements and supplies before week's end so you can see what's involved. Then, as I find the time, I'll publish the tutorial in a series of posts.
I really hope you will consider joining me!

Dude. i'm in. I had bought a lot of mustard and yellow that I thought I was gonna use for another quilt, but never did. Perfect opportunity! Thanks Cara!
I've never done a quilt before but have been dying to try it out. So I'm in! Can't wait to see what I need :)
Oh, this sounds awesome! I'd love to give it a try. Thanks for doing this.
I'm in too. I can't wait. :)
Clever name and I love it in yellow.
Yeah, definately love the yellow!
I'm in too!
Awesome! I've been collecting a bunch of FQs that don't have a quilt destination, so I might just join in! I loved how the manly quilt looked (and I loved the name, too, but Urban Lattice is nice too!).
I would really love to participate~I think I can swing a baby size quilt before the holidays :)
Fine! I knew I'd be sucked into quilting again sooner or later. I will participate, as long as my mom agrees to finish what I don't finish which may be 99% of it.
totally in!
I'm thinking about doing it!
I think I'm in... a little hesitant to add more to my sewing before Christmas (as I've got three quilts to finish by then)... but at my own pace I think I can manage... and it'll get my husband to stop pestering me about making him a quilt! :)
Thanks so much for the Flickr invite -- I have joined and not completed way too many sew-alongs this past year that I want to finish those before I commit to more. I'll cheer from the sidelines, though! Have fun! .... Antoinette (phthooey on Flickr)
I'll try it out! I really need to get some motivation to finish a quilt, maybe this will do it!
I'm definitely going to follow along, but I probably won't be able to sew my own until after Christmas. Love the design!
I'm interested! Oh, and don't worry I probable won't finish mine before you.
I'm in! Thanks for organizing it. : )
I'm in! I have 4 teenage boys, so I'm always looking for "manly" quilts.
This is really beautiful. I like he manly blue version too. There isn't really a lot out there that is masculine - well done!
Thanks for doing this! I printed out your unfinished top and was going to try to puzzle out how to make it, so this is fantastic.
I am in!
I think I may give this a go. I have been in need of some manly patterns and this will be just the inspiration I need. Perfect title for the pattern too!
