Did you see these adorable magnets on flickr?
Well, our St. Louis Modern Quilt Guild leadership did and decided we needed an itty bitty quilt block magnet swap. The rules are simple: make a quilt block 1.5 inches or smaller and turn it into a magnet.
I got a crazy hair to shrink the free Circle of Geese pattern Beth offers on her site.
Believe it or not, it wasn't too hard to paper piece on this scale. Once I completed the block piece, I cut a piece of batting and some fabric for the backing. I stitched the fabric together on three sides with right sides facing and "birthed" it out the unstitched side. I then slipped a magnet in and hand stitched the fourth side.
Wouldn't it be adorable to make a set of four that when put together make the full circle of geese?

Fantastic!! :) I made teeny paper pieced NY beauty blocks last summer. The only problem is that it takes just the same amount of time as the larger versions.... But you can't deny how cute they are!
That's amazing! Now that you've suggested the complete circle using four magnets, I can't get it out of my head. That would be so cool!
VERY cute. Now I want quilted magnets for my fridge. Where did you get your magnets?
I love this! Maybe it will get me to try paper piecing again...
So adorable!
what a great idea! i saw it all over pinterest yesterday!
Love it! So fun for the fridge

I just used the miniature ones she had at the bottom of her pattern, I think they showed how they should be laid out or something, I don't remember. And I think I reversed them when I printed them so they'd go the way I wanted. That pincushion is 2.5 x 2.5 I think.
Flingin', flangin' awesome!
This is adorable. I am impressed.
Really cute. I have a pin made out of a mini quilt block and it's one of my favorites. What is it about "mini" things that make us say, "Aw, isn't that cute?"
Is it selfish to say I hope this is my next home-made birthday or Christmas or even just because gift? Adorable!
